It has been repurposed into a fukusa which is a traditional wrapping cloth used for ceremonial occasions. What makes this piece truly stand out is the yuzen dyeing method. This Japanese resist dyeing technique uses rice paste to keep the dye and the illustrations separate. In this instance, the kimono has paintings of cranes which, in Japanese culture, are a symbol of
