There are 5 sections on the top so various items can be put in them or used for a cake plate. I can see a Red Velvet Cake on here for the holidays and it would look spectacular. It measures 12" in diameter and 4" high. Great condition. I only used it once for a summer tea that I had as it went so well with the ruby goblets that I have that are shown in the photos. Glasses
